Easter Sunday – Love is Risen
10am, April 5th 2026 at Willoughby Uniting Church – Clanwilliam St, Willoughby.
Easter Sunday is the heart of the Christian faith – a day of joy, hope, and new beginnings. After the sorrow and silence of Good Friday, we gather in celebration to proclaim that death does not have the final word. Christ is risen. Love is alive.
On the first Easter morning, the women came to the tomb carrying grief and uncertainty. Instead, they encountered an empty tomb and the astonishing news that Jesus had been raised. What seemed like the end of the story became a beginning. Fear turned to wonder. Despair gave way to hope.
Easter is not simply about life after death. It is about God’s transforming presence breaking into our world here and now. The resurrection speaks of renewal – of hearts restored, communities rebuilt, injustice challenged, and creation made new. It reminds us that even in the darkest places, God is at work bringing life.
For the early disciples, resurrection did not erase their wounds or questions. Instead, they met the risen Christ bearing scars – signs that suffering had not been denied, but transformed. Easter faith is not about pretending everything is fine. It is about trusting that love is stronger than fear, stronger than violence, stronger than death itself.
We invite you to join us this Easter Sunday as we celebrate new life, fresh beginnings, and the unstoppable love of God. Whether you come with deep faith, quiet curiosity, or longing for hope – you are warmly welcome.
